[08/03, 5:57 am] Gideon Deshi Katmut: 1. Morning Prayer
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ⏤ 1 John 1:9
Prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge for Satan. ⏤ John Bunyan
Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from Your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against Your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done, and there is no soundness in us. O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore those who are penitent, according to Your promises declared in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O merciful Father, for Your sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of Your holy name.
We bless Your name, O God, our Father, that we can come to You with our confessions, assured that You will, for the sake of Jesus Christ, forgive us all our manifold transgressions. May we today have Your divine peace in our souls. May the love of Jesus also be in us, warming our hearts and making us more like You.
Help us in all our work and duties. Let us not falter. Preserve us from laziness and carelessness. Make us diligent in our responsibilities. Strengthen us for all burden-bearing and cross-bearing, for all struggle and conflict. Let us not faint nor fail. Enable us to do every task in a way that pleases You.
We ask also for wisdom that we may not make mistakes. Bless our influence on others; may it always be good and helpful. Give us the true spirit of neighborliness. May the mind that was in Christ Jesus be in us, making us humble and helpful. Grant these mercies and favors in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

SATURDAY MARCH 8, 2025.
THE MOST IMPORTANT SKILL YOU CAN TEACH YOUR CHILD (3)
‘…Your thoughts…are the source of true life.’ Proverbs 4:23 CEV
TEACH YOUR children to ask themselves these two questions: 1) ‘How will I feel afterwards?’ What outlasts our decisions are the subsequent feelings of self-respect versus shame, and positive self-worth versus negative self-worth. Our actions ultimately become history, but our thoughts about them continue to shape our future. ‘Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source of true life.’ Children with self-respect are much less likely to indulge in promiscuous sex, drugs, drinking, antisocial and illegal behaviours. Self-respect and self-worth are internal standards which we are loathed to violate. Giving in to selfish choices is like abandoning the moral core of our being—the sacred soul God gave us. 2) ‘How will the people I value feel about me after this decision?’ The trust and respect of others is always needed to succeed. Reputation trumps money, even in the secular marketplace. ‘Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold’ (Proverbs 22:1 NLT). Poor decision making can earn us a reputation that’ll haunt our prospects indefinitely. ‘A person who plans (chooses) evil will get a reputation as a troublemaker’ (Proverbs 24:8 NLT). When you get a negative reputation, it’s hard to recover from it (Proverbs 25:10 NLT). The short-term benefits of making poor decisions lead to long-term losses and regrets. The person God blesses must ‘…exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation…’ (1Timothy 3:2 NLT).

- DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL) DATE:
SATURDAY, 8TH MARCH, 2025. SUB-THEME:
BASIC CONDITIONS FOR KNOWING AND GROWING IN CHRIST. TOPIC:
RENEWING THE MIND. TEXT:
EPHESIANS 4:20-24. - That, however, is not the way of life you learned
- when you heard about Christ and were taught in Him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.
- You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;
- to be made new in the attitude of your minds;
- and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. TOPIC:
RENEWING THE MIND. THE MESSAGE:
Renewing the mind is doing away with unhealthy thought patterns and replacing them with true godly ones. Our thoughts inform our character. Paul insists that the old rotten and ignorant way of one’s life must be done away with. When a believer obliges to Paul’s exhortation, it is an indication that God is reproducing His character in him. To renew your mind, you need to build a firm relationship with Christ. Christians who create time for personal quiet time, Bible Study, church sub-group fellowships, and prayer meetings renew their minds. Those who miss out often feed their minds on reckless, secular and defiling materials that ruin good morals. Where do you belong? Judge right! REFLECTION:
Only a renewed mind can grow spiritually. PRAYER:
Lord, help me to renew my mind constantly with Your truth. Amen. MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:
1 CORINTHIANS 3:7.
“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” TODAY’S BIBLE READING PLAN:

Submit yourselves therefore to God . . .
—James 4:7
You have a tongue and a voice. These instruments of speech can be used destructively or employed constructively. You can use your tongue to slander, to gripe, to scold, to nag, and to quarrel; or you can bring it under the control of God’s Spirit and make it an instrument of blessing and praise. The 20th-century version of James 3:3 says, “When we put bits into the horses’ mouths to make them obey us, we control the rest of their bodies also.” Just so, when we submit to the claims of Christ upon our lives, our untamed natures are brought under His control. We become meek, tamed, and “fit for the Master’s service.”
Prayer for the day
I would be under Your control, Lord Jesus
Christ. Take away the pride that keeps me from complete submission.
